- Arsenal and Brighton draw 1-1 in the first English Premier League match in the third round of the season.
- Kai Havertz gave the Gunners a first-half lead in the match at the Emirates Stadium in London, United Kingdom, but Joao Pedro equalised for the away team in the second period.
- The home side were reduced to 10 men when Declan Rice was shown a second yellow card early in the second period. The midfielder will miss the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, as a result.
- Arsenal finished second last season with only a two-point gap separating them from champions Manchester City.
- Brighton shocked Manchester United with a 2-1 win last weekend.
