Three American and two Spanish citizens have been arrested in Venezuela.

Venezuelan authorities have arrested three American citizens, two Spanish nationals, and one individual from the Czech Republic on suspicion of creating instability. According to a BBC report, the country's Interior Minister, Diosdado Cabello, stated that in addition to arresting the six individuals, over a hundred weapons were seized. The group was allegedly plotting to destabilize the country and assassinate President Nicolás Maduro and other top leaders.

The arrests come just two days after the U.S. imposed sanctions on 16 Venezuelan officials for allegedly facilitating Maduro's controversial election victory.

The Venezuelan government also claimed that the two Spanish nationals were linked to Madrid's National Intelligence Center (CNI). However, Spanish media reports have denied any connection between the arrested individuals and the intelligence agency.
