In 125 years, the powerful Hurricane 'Helen' has struck, with the death toll rising to 45.
In Florida, USA, Hurricane Helen, which escalated to a Category 4 storm in terms of strength, has caused the deaths of 45 people. Additionally, the powerful storm has left 4.5 million people without electricity, according to a CNN report.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that Hurricane Helen was significantly stronger than Hurricane Idalia, which struck in 2023. He noted that this storm caused widespread damage and was the most powerful hurricane in 125 years. The governor added, "We inspected the coast by helicopter, and all the homes in Keaton Beach have been destroyed."
He also mentioned that the hurricane generated waves as high as 20 feet, causing even more destruction.
At 11:10 PM local time on Thursday, the powerful storm hit Florida's Big Bend region with wind speeds of 225 kilometers per hour. This created widespread chaos across the coastal areas. In the coastal regions of Tampa, Naples, and St. Petersburg, many boats were overturned, trees were uprooted, vehicles were stranded in water, and roads were flooded.
